Hello! My name is Laurie Field. I was born in Waterloo, Iowa. I grew up in Plainfield until 6th grade when we moved to Elma, Iowa. I am a 1991 Graduate of Howard Winneshiek Schools. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Special Education K-12 from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. I was married in 1998 to Bryan Effle and lived in Norfolk, Nebraska. We had three girls, Allyson (20), Kylie (17), and Shelby (13). I taught Special Education in Junior High and High School in Tilden, Nebraska for a few years then taught at an alternative school for nonverbal students and students with Autism. After Bryan died, we moved back to Charles City to be closer to family. I taught 5th and 6th
grade special education at Waverly for the AEA. I married Jay Field in
2010 and began teaching Instructional Support at IC in 2011. In 2018,
I became the principal of IC. I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational
Policy & Leadership from the University of Iowa in 2019.
